May 29, 2012 - Nashville, Tennessee - Professional Credential Services (PCS) is proud to announce that PCS was recently awarded a new licensing contract for the Puerto Rico Department of State (Department). PCS will be providing the Department and its 22 regulatory boards a robust licensing system and services, which include on-line initial licensing, renewals, continuing education tracking, as well as digital imaging of historical and future licensing documents. Regulatory Boards and the Department will have the ability to access licensees' files via a secured internet connection to review and to approve licensing applications; eliminating mounds of files and papers it previously had to sift through at each Board meeting. As a result, they will be able to more effectively fulfill their responsibilities as board members. Jeff Blake, Chief Operating Officer for PCS, said: "I was pleased to recently travel to Puerto Rico with Andrea Bledsoe and Gustavo Rodriguez, the Puerto Rico Supervisor for PCS. We had an exciting day when we signed the contract and we're already hard at work scanning historical files and processing them."
PCS and the Department of State have been consulting for some time on this project and are both overjoyed to see this agreement come to fruition. Andrea Bledsoe, PCS' Executive Vice President, who has been the primary point of contact for PCS in Puerto Rico since 2000, said: "PCS and The Department of State of Puerto Rico have been working diligently for the last three years on this project, and it gives PCS great satisfaction to begin working on such a progressive project and to be able to continue working with the wonderful people in Puerto Rico. We have been providing examination administration and test development services for fourteen of the twenty-two regulatory boards for several years now. All of us are ecstatic to be in a position to further assist Puerto Rico and look forward to meeting and working with people we have yet to meet and know." Jose Carrasquillo, PCS' Coordinator Specialist/Examination Administrator, who resides in Puerto Rico, said: "PCS and the Department have done a phenomenal job in making this contract a reality. The new services that PCS is providing will vastly improve and speed up the way historical documents are accessed and applications will be able to be processed much more efficiently, which benefits many people in Puerto Rico."
Though Puerto Rico is a US jurisdiction, its first language is Spanish and it has a unique culture; one driven by trusted relationships. Since PCS first began working with Puerto Rico, PCS has devoted much effort in both understanding the culture and in cultivating relationships. Eduardo Ballori Lage, the Auxiliary Secretary for the Boards at the Department, had the following to say about this historical moment for Puerto Rico's Regulatory Boards: "With PCS' help, we guarantee the citizens of Puerto Rico that once this project is fully implemented, they will begin to receive the level of service they deserve. At the end of the day, both the Department of State and PCS understand that is the real achievement."
